The ÉTS Library makes available to you various resources (databases, periodicals and books) that are protected by Canadian copyright law and licensing agreements.
Please read the following rules of use carefully, as violation of any of these clauses may result in sanctions such as suspension of your access privileges, and may permanently deprive all users of one or more of these electronic resources.
General rules of use
Use of library resources must be limited to private study, research, or educational purposes, and must be done with due regard for copyright:
- It is permitted to copy, print, save and temporarily retain a single copy of a reasonable number of items for personal use. Downloading complete issues of periodicals is prohibited.
- It is permissible to download or print non-substantial portions of e-book, , such as a chapter. Downloading, printing, or photocopying a complete book is strictly prohibited.
Electronic resources
Only authorized users (faculty, students, researchers, staff and other authorized users) may access electronic resources.
It is strictly forbidden to share your access codes with any other user, or to transmit data or text from the electronic resources to unauthorized users.
Copies for teaching
Professors may distribute copies of articles or excerpts of texts from our print collections to their students, but only under certain conditions.
You may reproduce hereunder:
- At most 15% of the document
- A whole article
- The entire chapter, if it represents 20% or less of the book.
Reproduction on a secure pedagogical platform (e.g. a password-protected Moodle space), on a USB key or CD-ROM, by email or fax is permitted, if the work from which the article or text is taken is not on the Copibec list of esclusions.
In return, you must declare the reproductions in Copibec's Savia system.
